Market Insights: Key Trends to Monitor in the Upcoming Week

Investors will be paying close attention to the U.S. inflation data due on Tuesday for clarity on the Federal Reserve's rate hike plans.

The recent strong jobs data has led to a recalibration of expectations for the rate hikes this year. A higher-than-expected inflation figure could force the markets to rethink the Fed's plan to cut rates by the end of the year, potentially impacting the recent rally in stocks and bonds. Several Fed officials, including John Williams, James Bullard, Patrick Harker, and Loretta Mester, will be making appearances this week.

The earnings season is winding down with more than half of the firms listed on the S&P 500 having reported their earnings. Coca-Cola, Barrick Gold, Kraft Heinz, Krispy Kreme, and Biogen are among the notable companies set to report this week. In the U.K., inflation and jobs data, along with retail sales, will be closely watched as the Bank of England decides on its rate hike plans. Japan is set to nominate a new central bank governor, while the Eurozone is set to release its updated quarterly economic forecasts. European Central Bank President Christine Lagarde will be testifying before the European Parliament.
