Microsoft announced plans to lay off 10,000 as the company on the look to cut costs growing concerns about widespread economic recession.
The cuts represent 5% of Microsoft's global workforce of 221.000 employees. The company began notifying affected workers today and plans to complete the layoffs by the spring.The CEO stated that the company is seeing organizations in every industry and geography exercise caution as some parts of the world are in recession and other parts are expecting to. On the other hand, she stated that they will continue into strategic hiring in some areas such as AI, where they have been investing heavily.
